Scholarships & Financial Support

Manovikas awards scholarships from its own funds, and helps families claim the Government scholarships they are already entitled to. There is no closing date, no application fee, and no document is needed to apply.

Manovikas gives money to help people study.

We also help you get money from the Government.

Both are free. You can ask any time of the year.

Which fund is mine?

You do not need to work that out. One form serves all three funds — tell us about yourself and we will place your application correctly.

You do not need to choose.

There is one form.

We will work out which fund is right for you.

What we award

Each fund is governed by a Schedule to the Manovikas Scholarship Policy. Support always reaches the student through her institution — never as cash.

There are three kinds of help.

We pay your college, not you.

Schedule A

SHUCHITA Scholarship Fund

For women with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and multiple disability.

For women with a learning disability, autism, cerebral palsy, or more than one disability.

Who can apply
Benchmark disability of 40% or more · aged 14 to 35 · Class 10 minimum · admitted to or applying at a recognised institution
What it can cover
Tuition · fees, books, supplies and equipment · room and board
Note
One course at a time.

A philanthropic initiative of Home of Hope Inc. USA, implemented by Manovikas.

Schedule B

Manovikas Shiksha Sahyog Fund

For students in professional education who show a commitment to serving and working with persons with disabilities — during their studies, after them, or both.

For students who want to work with disabled people.

You can be disabled or not disabled.

Fields of study
Health sciences · law · education and special education · psychology and social work · management and public policy · inclusive research · humanities
Level
Class 11 through post-graduation and doctoral. Open to all students, with priority to persons with disabilities.
What it can cover
Part or all of tuition · books, assistive devices, travel and examination fees · internship and mentoring at Manovikas
In return
A minimum of forty hours a year working with persons with disabilities. Where the scholar is disabled, this is adapted with her so that it can be done.
Schedule C

Training Stipend

For trainees on our vocational and skill programmes, and on on-the-job training with partner employers.

For people learning a job skill at Manovikas.

What it can cover
Travel to training and the cost of materials. Where an employer already pays an on-job-training stipend, we do not duplicate it.
How to apply
No separate application. If you are already enrolled, your programme head puts your name forward to the Scholarship Committee.

The money goes to your institution. We pay your college directly, against its fee demand raised in your name. Nothing is paid until your institution confirms you are enrolled. Books, equipment and assistive devices are either bought for you or reimbursed against your original bills. Scholarships are never paid in cash.

We pay your college. We do not give you cash.

We pay after your college says you have joined.

For books and equipment, we buy them for you. Or we pay you back when you show the bill.

Merit and need, together

We do not publish an income limit, and we do not decide on income alone. We look at what you have achieved, what you are trying to do, and what stands in the way. Tell us your circumstances in your own words — that is enough to start.

We do not ask how much money your family has.

Tell us about your life in your own words.

That is enough to start.

If you already receive a Government scholarship, tell us. Most Government scholarships do not allow a student to hold another at the same time. Telling us does not disqualify you. It lets us support what the other scholarship does not cover — a device, transport, an examination fee, a short course.

Do you get money from the Government?

Tell us. It is not a problem.

We can pay for things that money does not cover.

What happens after you apply

You send the form

No documents, no fee, no closing date. Any time of the year.

No papers. No fee. No last date.

We acknowledge it

Within two working days, by email and on WhatsApp.

We message you in 2 working days.

We ask for documents

Only if you are shortlisted — never before. Certificates, the fee demand letter from your institution, and for the Shiksha Sahyog Fund, two referees.

Only if we choose you. Not before.

The Scholarship Committee decides

Six members — a Chairperson, the Member Secretary, a member of our Governing Body, an academic member, a teacher, and a community representative such as a parent or self-advocate. It meets about once a month. Every decision is recorded in writing with the reason. A member related to an applicant, or connected with the applicant's institution, leaves the room.

Six people decide together.

They meet about once a month.

They write down every decision and why.

We pay your institution

After enrolment is confirmed, against the fee demand. You receive an award letter to sign and return.

We pay your college.

You sign a letter first.

We do not promise a decision date, but you may ask us the status of your application at any time. If we cannot support you, we will tell you, and you may apply again. Read the full Scholarship Policy (PDF).

Government scholarships — we help you claim them

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities runs scholarships for students with benchmark disability through the National Scholarship Portal. These are Government schemes. We do not decide them, and we do not charge for helping you apply.

The Government gives money too.

We help you ask for it.

We do not charge for this help.

Pre-Matric

For students with benchmark disability in Classes 9 and 10.

Post-Matric

For students with benchmark disability from Class 11 upwards.

Top Class

For higher education at notified institutions.

What you will usually need. Aadhaar · a bank account in your own name · a disability certificate or UDID card · a One Time Registration on the National Scholarship Portal. Applications usually open around September and close around November, but dates change every year.

You will need Aadhaar, a bank account, and a disability certificate.

You ask around September each year.

Ask us for help with a Government scholarship

Scheme details last reviewed 12 October 2026. Always confirm the current year's dates on scholarships.gov.in before applying.

Apply

One form, all three funds. Nothing to upload now. If you need help filling this in, anyone may help you — a parent, a friend, a teacher — or call us on +91 99111 07772 and we will do it together.

You do not need to send papers now.

Someone can help you fill this in.

You can also call us for help.

About you
Disability

We ask because the SHUCHITA Fund is only for women with disabilities. The Shiksha Sahyog Fund is open to everyone.

Your circumstances

In your own words, in Hindi or English. No income proof is needed now.

The course you want to do
Other support

Telling us does not disqualify you.

What you need help with
Your interest and aspirations

Someone may help you write this — or tell us you would rather answer it in an interview instead.

Declarations

Please read each one and tick it separately.

We will acknowledge it within two working days.

Fund a student

A scholarship at Manovikas does not go into a bank account and disappear. It goes to a named institution, against an invoice, for a student whose progress we follow until she finishes.

You can pay for someone's studies.

We tell you how they are doing.

Individual donors

Support the Shiksha Sahyog Fund. Indian donors receive an 80G receipt.

Companies and CSR

Fund a cohort, a field of study, or a full course. We report annually on every student supported.

In memory of someone

A named award, on terms agreed with you.

Our Committee selects every recipient. Donors may recommend a person for consideration, and we welcome it, but the decision is ours and is recorded. That is what keeps the fund a charity rather than a conduit.
